Day 5

<< Prev | Next >>

Today was another busy day. After removing the wings, the fuselage was moved back inside and jigged for the start of the tail spar installation. After applying some touch up putty to the leading edges, we positioned the tail spar using the rudder, fit BH C and filleted BH C in place. When the fillet cured, we removed the spar and glassed the fore and aft sides of the bulkhead. While the laminates were curing, we prepped the fuselage and the strakes for gluing to the fuselage. After the strake glue cured, the glass was applied and then fairing putty was applied for sanding and shaping later. As the fairing putty cured on the strakes, we fit the depth of the co pilot ¼ window and positioned the clecos, the ¼ window was now ready for installation on day 6. The pilot door was then fit to the fuselage opening and mounted on its hinges. As the day progressed the builder worked on the door latching mechanism. We finished the day off with building the upper pushrod for the co-pilot side.
